Speaking of learning from our past Big Games, I'm tired of making 400 guardsmen trudge across three feet of table. Especially when they can ride in style.

My first foray into plasticard. My first Super Heavy.

Not finished yet, but there's still time.

Simply awesome.  I have this tank on my project list....but seeing this is inspiring.

Yeah, I'm only about halfway through the conversion. More armor! More rivets! Some heavy stubbers!

Thanks for your encouragement guys.

Dude!  That is AWESOME!

I don't suppose you could put together a brief description of how you've done it, could you?  My modelling skills are really lacking.  Knowing things like how to make rivets and work with plasticard would help a lot.

Nice work!

What tank is this?  Something made up, or something from Imperial Armour?

I don't remember the name offhand-(Storm-something I'm sure), but it's a baneblade transport variant from Apocolypse/Reloaded.

His conversion is really dead-on withthe pictures except that the upper hull is a touch too tall.

But that  looks great like that too and just looks like a different Pattern of the same tank (Mars Pattern, etc).

This might be the Turnip Field pattern Imperial Storm-Something.

I think it looks wonderful so far; are those LEGOs on the gatling guns on the front?

I too would love to see a modelling tricks and tips section, or rather a "what you are working on and how you are doing it" forum. Maybe this could replace the rather stagnant GW B%&#$tch forum, or something else?

I believe the frame of the guns are. I'm guessing the barrels are just RR kit plastic tube.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys!

It is a Stormlord, from Apocalypse Reload. Transports forty models, a mega-bolter, 500 pts.

I went for a higher superstructure than the GW drawing shows for a couple reasons; first is the gun itself. With 15 shots per turn (30 if it doesn't move!), this thing has got to be toting a huge number of mass reactive shells

Secondly, I think if you're going to justify this tank carrying 40 guys then the gun is going to have to sit on top of the chassis, not be set into it. Like a monitor in the Civil War. Even crammed in, with the engine necessary to run this thing, I just couldn't picture forty guys crammed into the space.

Third, I based the proportions on the German Brumbar from WWII. Look it up if you don't know it, it's an awesome tank.

I like the Turnip Field reference- that was the Akira Campaign we played in 04 or 05! So the Akira Pattern it is.

I think those are all great reasons.   I was guessing it was based off of a German tank, though I wouldn't have been able to say which.  I think the deviation is cool and prbably appropriate. (GW doesn't tend to stick to the kinds of realistic details you mentioned....which actually makes your tank cooler than theirs!)

The Akira Campaign! (Never played in it as I was Brand spanking new to D-co at that time and was jealous of those who did)

Akira pattern even sounds cool

I certainly think it competes with things they have on there. Although I feel kinda jealous that we have the exclusive view.

Someone somewhere actually modeled what 12 orks riding on a new trukk would look like. It was pretty ridiculous.

Oh yeah, that's one of my favorite sites.

http://z11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progress/index.php?showtopic=14160

It's actually the first time I've posted images there. So far the feedback is helpful.

Those crazy fuckers are serious about their modeling.
