Okay, so this is GuerrillaCon at GenCon; 40k under the radar but real as it gets.

Backstory- IcarusRising and I don't get all the gaming in we could hope for (especially now living 2500 miles apart) so we started planning to get together at GenCon and spend a significant period of time throwing down in a linked series of games and story last winter. That turned into Kalkovac, which I've been developing with the help of games here on the East Coast against other D Company oldsters (Wolf Man and Jeppy) who have also migrated this direction. You can catch up with the campaign so far by looking under the LatD thread on this site.

So far the battles that we have been fighting have been outside the spaceport of Kalkovac, establishing the approaches. GenCon 08 we're going to feature the fighting as it spills into the spaceport itself, and settle once and for all who controls this vital objective on the rebellious planet. . .

So we are going to find a place in the convention (hopefully in the Miniatures Area- TBD) to set up a 4' x 12' table of terrain and try and keep it up all weekend. We're going to play a series of games culminating in a big Apocalypse battle Saturday night, and you're welcome to join in with our battles or just use any part of the table at anytime to throw down your own battle.

The table will be set up Thursday night/Friday morning (depending on availability) and stay up until Sunday.

Organized Battles: Like I said, you can feel free to throw down on any part of the table not currently being used whenever you want. But if you want to get into what we've got going on, there will be three games Friday, a game Saturday afternoon, and an big Apocalypse battle Saturday night in the spirit of D Company at GenCon (that's how I met these guys in 2003- Saturday Night Massive Throwdown at GenCon)!

The games that we're planning will be linked, with the outcome of battles effecting the battles that follow. Key map locations will change hands, set-ups will be affected, Cities of Death Strategems will be awarded, etc. etc. etc.. It will be cool, so if you're up for it swing by for a game or more or just to hang out.

Those of you who have seen the armies and terrain that both IcarusRising and myself can put down will know that this is going to be a series of showcase battles, so you're encouraged to get involved.

Friday Games- Starting at 11:00 am, there will be a 1000 point game of IcarusRising's Deathwatch Kill Team and beautiful FW Elysians vs. my Renegades of the Kalkovac Independent People's Army.

After lunch on Friday, probably around 3:00, we'll start a 1500 point battle; IcarusRising's Radical Inquisitor/LatD list vs. the mutants and Renegades of my own Lost and Damned list. The battle for the Spaceport continues.

After dinner Friday night, probably around 8:00, we're going to throw down 2000 points, IcarusRising'sWH/Guard force against the Kalkovac Independent People's Army. Armour and bloodshed. Artillery. Mortars. Cityfight.

Saturday Games- Saturday afternoon, starting around 1:00 pm, we'll throw down a series of small games using the Patrol rules, 400-750 points.

Saturday night, after dinner starting at 8:00 pm we'll throw down the finale, and each have about 5000 points of Apocalypse.

..............................................................

That's the schedule, feel free to jump in on this. The only stipulation is that as this is a story driven campaign, we ask that if you want to play you adhere to the following basic principles:

1.) All models need to be painted.

2.) The Imperial side, those invading the planet, will consist of any combination of the following armies: Any Astartes Chapters, any Imperial Guard (including FW Elysian, FW D-99, Armageddon Steel Legion, EOT Cadians, whatever, and any Armoured Company rules you prefer), Witch Hunters, Adeptus Mechanicus, or LatD lists (representing local Kalkovac forces that have turned against the Revolutionary Council and are 'co-operating' with the Inquisition).

3.) The Renegade side, those defending the planet, will consist of any combination of the following armies: Guard, FW Renegade List, Lost and Damned, Adeptus Mechanicus cult. Chaos Space Marines of the Alpha Legion, Night Lords, or Iron Warriors are playable.  Undivided only- No demons, no Marks, although Possessed and Demon Princes are playable (without Marks).

4.) Note that due to the secretive nature of the Alpha Legion, players who field this list do not have to have their models painted to chapter specific colors; in fact any Space Marine models whether loyal or chaos are acceptable as Alpha Legionnaires as long as they are wysiwyg. The Alpha Legion are under cover, so Loyal Space Marine players- here's your chance to play Chaos.

5.) Players adhering to these basic guidelines may include any list folowing a basic Force Org from any Codex past or present, any White Dwarf, any Forgeworld, or Citadel Journal, or Chapter Approved, or BOLs or Tempus Fugitives list, just about any rule set published by any source including websites or whatever you think is cool- doesn't matter at all. Pick a list and play it.

6.) LatD players can use the original Eye of Terror list utilizing the ols CSM Codex or any of the alternate lists that have sprung up to fill the void left by GW's idiocy. Players who bring a LatD list must also adhere to the CSM chapter, Marks, and Demons restrictions.

7.) Players who bring a Chaos Space Marine Army may use either the old Codex or the new Codex, but not both.

8.) Both Iron Warrior and Alpha Legion players may bring Cultists. Iron Warrior or Alpha Legion players who use the new CSM Codex may include Cultist Units as per the listing in the old CSM Codex. Due to the nature of the Night Lords they may not include Cultists.

9.) WYSIWYG- absolutely, though any models that are on appropriately sized bases are welcome (fantasy, AT-43, Old West, Rackham, Samurai, Ancients, whatever. . .).

10.) VDR rules are permitted as per the Chapter Approved book.

11.) Even though Apocalypse rules say specifically that you can include any unit in your list, we ask that for this event you stick to the previously stated army restrictions for your Apocalypse list. Your Apocalypse list can still include whatever combination of units that you wish, (i.e. Ultramarines with a Baneblade and a Penitent Engine, whatever) just stick to the theme of the campaign and the units involved.

Basically, this is a series of games set up for gamers to have good fucking time. Bring whatever you want, but don't bring it to break the spirit of the game. You know if it's broken, and if it's broken, don't bother; if the most important thing to you is to win, don't bother.

If you are planning on bringing Imperial forces to one or more games, please take a minute and PM IcarusRising so that we can plan for your inclusion. Likeways, players bringing forces to defend Kalkovac should PM me. We'll be as flexible as possible, so this isn't to say that you can't just drop by and play but planning is preferred.

If you get to the con and can't find us, my cel phone number is 6o8.77o.7oo1. Call me and I'll fill you in.

Hope to see you there!!

Looking at my gaming schedule for the Con... I can definitely make Friday night's game and might make Saturday night's game late (we have True Dungeon at 6pm and we'll probably have to eat afterward).

Whoo-Hoo! :D

Major, can we play in the big game if we can't bring 5,000pts?

Totally can, it's Apocalypse so you can bring whatever you have on hand. Big force, small force, doesn't matter.

Just try to let Icarus Rising or I know beforehand so we can plan accordingly to adjust what we'll have.

What terrain will be there?  Is this mostly concrete structures and stuff made to represent the Space Port?

I never did buy a "travel size" miniatures case.  So I'm bringing the entire Skullhewer's Great Company of Space Wolves with me.  I pray to the God Emperor that they can endure their travels through the Warp.

Is it Thursday yet?!?!? :D

Speaking of lost in the warp- the Terrain situation is a bit up in the air-
two full bins of some of Peter's finest terrain are locked up in the warp and I am trying to guide it out.
Our intentions were to be as urban as possible- but by 5th ed standards, most pieces would be considered ruins...

If anyone has some urban terrain and some room in their vehicle bringing it could not hurt in case we need some added cover!

I'll have my Adeptus Telepathicus teams attempt transmission to the Dacio and Silas systems.  Perhaps those Forgeworlds can come to our aid. ;)

Terrain crisis averted. . .

I just spent 24 hours in the workshop with my little elves, and the Kalkovac Spaceport is open for business. Hell, I'd land a spaceship there myself, if only I was 28mm.

At least until Icarus's Thunderbolts start strafing it.

Well my message was transmitted, recieved, and returned with news that Forgeworld Dacio plans on bringing enough terrain for an entire board (just like last year).

Truly, the Emperor smiles upon us.

I'll bring a bin of generic ruined type buildings for some filler, if needed.  Otherwise I'm packing the Battalion case to capacity.

Expect arrival late thursday...

That's perfect.

When I said built, I meant just built. . . and tomorrow primed-

Wednesday night we'll paint it in Indy.

And drink whiskey.
